► About buying your home
Once you have received your illustration and decided to become a Joint Equity Partner you will need to find somewhere to buy and do your sums.
Choosing your own home is the fun bit, but the sums are important as you need to know whether you can afford the home you want. You also need to make decisions about how much of the home you want to own, and whether you want to look at capital repayment or interest only. However, even if you over or under estimate the proportion of the property you want to own, you can buy-in or buy-out more of your home later on.
Joint Equity does have some simple conditions which you should read carefully, but these are fairly straightforward and there to protect you and your Investor Partner.
Remember that Joint Equity won't tell you where or what to buy - it's your home, so it's up to you - however, through our support Network, we can help you by providing advice on the kinds of properties that make the best investments; financial planning; dealing with estate agents, and all sorts of other stuff. Just ask. We're happy to hold your hand through it all. Buying a home is one of the most stressful things you can do, after all!

Important:
At the moment we can only support purchases of up to £250,000.
► Our Support Network
N.B. The special rates for extra services we offer through our Affiliates are not available to anyone outside the Joint Equity Network. Joint Equity Ltd offers legal and financial advice only through our Affiliates who are fully registered to do so. Joint Equity Ltd does not offer professional advice directly.
As the Partners Network develops we'll be offering more things to our members, including regular get-togethers!

The next stage is enjoying your home.

► Our Professionals
You will have to use our the Joint Equity mortgages developed by our Lenders (other providers don’t supply this type of mortgage currently) and one of our Joint Equity Conveyancing Partners as this is part of setting up your Joint Equity account with the Lender.
However, you are required to take independent legal advice, from your own solicitor before signing the Joint Equity Partner’s Contract.
If you don’t already have your own solicitor, we can help you find one locally.

► Our Lenders Special Mortgages
Joint Equity does not provide financial advice. However, our Mortgage Brokers and IFA’s are Authorised by the FSA to give you advice on the complete range of products available to you.
You can choose whether to take up a repayment or interest only Joint Equity mortgage (see mortgage options for details).
Our standard example illustrates interest only rather than capital repayment options as there are advantages to interest only but you have to make other arrangements to pay off the capital when the loan is repaid.
Remember, by sharing the equity in your home, you also share costs, such as stamp duty!
